In 2018, Australian-born, Cornwall-based singer-songwriter, Nick Kingswell, set out to make an album of songs that would be as exciting to record as they would be to play live. After spending countless months working with various producers to find “the sound” he wanted, it only took one Skype meeting with producer, James Bunton, to realise he’d overthought the whole process.

The first three weeks Kingswell spent working with James in Toronto, Canada, felt as natural and exciting as the finished album does today. With a pitstop at London’s famed Abbey Studios to record strings, it turned out that the dynamics he’d been chasing were the kind achieved only by getting in a studio with a like minded producer and musicians. Thankfully, Bunton reminded Kingswell to put the focus back on his songwriting.

This was the beginning of “Brontide”, a 12 track exploration of regret, hurt and hope.

2020 saw first single “Homesick” have it’s premiere on Earmilk, while the follow up, “There’s No Cure”, was accompanied by an in-depth interview with American Songwriter. A third and final single, “Now I’m Gone”, was released the same week another track on the album, Easy Love, was featured in a viral Buzzfeed video.

Brontide - Kingswell’s long awaited full length album, was released October 23rd 2020 via Audio Network.
